Largest Annual Euchre Party!
This year was a big—and slightly scary—step for Erica and Jimmy. They’ve been hosting this party at their house for more than 20 years, so moving it to a banquet hall definitely changed some of that house-party feel. But with the growth of Darby Connections, it was a necessary step. Last year we had around 90 people. This year, more than 140 joined us!

A Big Night for Teams & Scores
As if organizing a party for 140+ people wasn’t stressful enough, Jimmy decided this would also be the perfect night to roll out his new Teams & Scores app!
Many of you are already familiar with the text-message system behind DarbyConnections.com that we use to run our Euchre and Pickleball events. Building and improving that system has basically been Jimmy’s full-time, highly unpaid job for the past nine years.
Teams & Scores gives that same system a much nicer and easier-to-use interface.
And fear not—you do not have to install another app! You now have three choices:
- Install the Teams & Scores app on your phone
- Use the web version at TeamsAndScores.com
- Stick with the good old text messages
Having all three options actually proved very helpful at the party, especially with some people experiencing internet connection issues.
Lafayette Grande
Lafayette Grande was a great partner to work with. As with any first-time venue, there were a few things we learned along the way, and their staff worked with us to address the issues.
We also learned a few things ourselves—such as which tables work best for cards and how to better use our new speaker system. The noise level was higher than we would have liked, which is something we battle at many of our venues. Lafayette Grande suggested using their larger ballroom next time because it has better acoustics, so that is something we’ll consider for the future.
Most Importantly—Thank You!
We are extremely thankful for the group we had. For many people, this was their first Darby Connections event, and everyone seemed to embrace what we are about: keeping things friendly, having fun, and not getting overly competitive.
A party this large is fun, but it isn’t necessarily the best environment for really getting to know people. We hope those who joined us for the first time will come out to one of our smaller weekly Euchre events, where friendships really start to develop.

Those ratings help us learn who you enjoy playing with so we can do a better job of seating you with people you like at future events.
Thank you again to everyone who came, helped, supported us, and made this year’s party such a success. Going from about 90 people last year to more than 140 this year was a huge jump, and we’re excited to see where we go from here!
