Thank You!
Erica and I have a real passion for helping others, which brings us joy. But it's awkward for us when people do nice things for us. We often feel embarrassed and worry whether we're showing our gratitude properly. We prefer to help others quietly and sometimes wonder if our appreciation is fully understood.
Our group, Darby Connections, is filled with amazing people who often do kind deeds that go unnoticed. Planning events is hard, as it's tough to get people to come. Simple things like just Showing Up make a big impact. It is amazing how far many of our members travel to attend Euchre! That was a great help when we launched Euchre in Auburn Hills. Those who travel far make a big difference and we're so thankful for them.
Running Darby Connections has its costs, like needing new playing cards often. It may seem insignificant, but it adds up quickly. Cards wear out quickly with food and drinks around. Thankfully, our members have been generous, and we haven't had to buy cards for two years. If you decide to buy some cards, look for Pinochle Decks. A Pinochle Deck is TWO Euchre Decks, so there are no cards thrown away.
We often receive financial help from members. We're grateful for every donation, but it's tricky to show our thanks without making it seem like we value people by what they give. Every contribution is greatly appreciated. Our aim is to keep the group free to join so it's easy for people to make new friends.
Another important thing is how everyone makes newcomers feel welcome. A simple "Hi," taking an interest in them, or inviting them to activities outside of Euchre really helps. Our members do a lot together, like playing pickleball, joining a bowling team, going to concerts, and even simple walks. It's great when people invite someone new or accept an invitation.
We really appreciate everyone in Darby Connections. Your kindness and involvement are what make our community special. Thank you so much!
