We Bowl Too!!!!
Did you know many Darby Connections members are on the same bowling league? Over fourteen active members play on the Jack-N-Jill Bowling League every other Tuesday at Wonderland Lanes in Commerce Township, with several others regularly subbing. That’s one reason Tuesday night Euchres can be harder to grow. It’s not an official Darby Connections event yet, but we’re working on it.
Erica and Jimmy joined the league about 15 years ago when it was mostly neighbors. True to their welcoming style, they invited others to sub and helped people form new teams as spots opened. Today, Darby Connections members make up the largest group in the league.
Fun fact from tonight: Erica and Jimmy are on different teams—and they played against each other. Both teams were sitting in third place going into the night, with Erica’s team third from first and Jimmy’s team third from last. Erica’s team took the win, thanks in large part to Noel bowling the highest game of his life with a 275. He started with five strikes in a row, followed by a spare, then another five strikes, and finished with an eight on the final ball. Nice job, Noel!
If you enjoy bowling, get on the sub list. When sign-ups open next year, there may be room to add another team.
Our philosophy at Darby Connections is that Euchre is the best way to meet people—but real friendships are built by doing things outside of Euchre. When members invite you to something, GO! If you’re not getting invites, create your own event and invite people. Many members organize side activities with smaller groups due to space or preference.
If you want to host an event and need help, contact Jimmy. He can post it on the site and make it open to everyone or just a select group. We encourage everyone to invite others to activities beyond Euchre.
